Kumamoto Kenjin Kai members with the Honorable Norman Mineta at the 2016 JCCCW Tomodachi Luncheon

Welcome to Kumamoto Kenjikai Seattle

On behalf of the members of the Seattle Kumamoto Kenjin Kai, welcome to the our new website.  The Seattle Kumamoto Kenjin Kai was established in 1907 to serve as an alumi association to Japanese pioneers that immigrated to the Seattle area from Kumamoto Ken (Prefecture).  Our goal is to teach about the past, serve the present, and assist future generations to learn about Kumamoto and our unique relationship with Japan.  The Kenjin Kai is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization.  We welcome any/all interested individuals and families that are descendants, former residents, JET alumi, Friends of Kumamoto, or Friends of the Kumamon to join us.

Our Kenjin Kai is a proud supporter and founding member of the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Washington and it is our goal to work together with the other Seattle and Washington area kenjin kais to preserve and teach interested people about the Japanese and Japanese American culture.
