All members, decent of Kumamoto, friends of Kumamoto, and friends of the Kumamon are welcome to attend. Taylor Shellfish have signed an agreement to grow prized Kumamoto oysters in the clean waters of Puget Sound. The oysters were showcased at the Consul General’s reception for Governor Kabashima’s visit to Seattle on 28 and 29 August 2012.

On March 9, 2012, the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Washington presented the Tomodachi award to the Kenjin Kai Groups in the Seattle area. The Seattle Kumamoto Kenjin Kai was one of the awardees.
Receiving the award ceremony on behalf of the Kenjin Kai is Calvin Terada, President, Tina Terada-Santos, Vice-President, and Judge Vicki Toyohara Mukai, Board Member.
